I still get awkward home remedies to treat my issues from my grandparents. Just last week, I ended up tumbling downstairs, with my grandfather helping me up with another odd remedy. He asked me to boil an egg while rubbing it on my ankle that was swollen as a result.
Oddly enough, it worked…
To this day my grandparents are still giving me bizarre treatments for minor injuries. Just the other week I took a tumble down the stairs, and my Grandma popped up, telling me to boil an egg and rub the extremely hot breakfast item all over my extremely swollen ankle. And you now what? It worked!
The swelling has disappeared in less than an hour, with me feeling in perfect shape. It is a testament that some of our grandparents’ bizarre remedies actually work at solving problems.
This is what we’ve decided to provide this article for you. Below, we’re going to show you a few remedies that you can use to fix some of the most serious problems people face today!
Raisins for Arthritis
The dried berries and grapes many people hate are actually a remedy to soften the arthritis joint pain. Now you have another reason to convince your kid of adding it to their lunch boxes!
It is recommended for you to soak the raisins in some gin overnight. The vitamins in the raisins, in addition to the anti-inflammatory effects of join (as a result of juniper berries) help alleviate the joint pain and difficulties of arthritis. Don’t worry though, you won’t get drunk from consuming this mixture!
Celery for Bad Breath
Celery ironically enough (since it’s tasteless), is seen the home remedy for bad breath. All that is required is to get packets of gum which should be eaten with celery. It is an odd remedy if you ask me.
Lemons for Earache
Another awkward combination of ingredients. For this remedy, you are supposed to squeeze the juice of a lemon into one of your ear buds, while popping that bud into your ear for 60 seconds. This is supposed to fix the painful ear problems, since the lemon has a stabilizing effects on your ear’s pH, making it feel fresh.
Nettles Cure Hair Loss
Most grandparents are balding, so it is not surprising to see this remedy on their list of favored recommendations. The reason why nettle is effective for hair loss, is due to the abundance of ingredients in the planet. This includes magnesium, beta-carotene, and a ton of different vitamin variants. The vitamins specifically help grow longer and stronger hair strands, with the metals aiding in the formation of hair through the proteins.
All that is required is some boiled water, with 4-6 nettles being placed in the mug for enjoyment (kind of like tea).
One thing that should be considered would be the dosage of nettles. Nettles are very harmful in huge doses, due to the large silica content. Thus, we recommend smart consumption of the product!
Yams for Menopause
Yams can be confused with sweet potatoes, which are actually different in their effects on the body, in addition to their shape difference. As a general rule, yams have skin that is thicker and darker in color. Additionally, yams have much higher Vitamin C and A content, which are perfect in aiding your body’s balance of hormonal levels.
Olives for Motion Sickness
Olives are an important product being high in compounds called tannins. Tannins are excellent for slowing down the production of saliva, which is disgusting and aids in feelings of nausea when feeling motion sickness. Thus, one your next car or boat journey, don’t forget to pack some olives along!
Baking Soda for Urinary Tract Infections
This tip will aid with problems that are actually detrimental to your hygiene. For clearing urinary tract infections, you’re going to sprinkle some baking soda in a glass of water, before consumption… that’s it! Drink the mixture, where you’re going to find that the symptoms will disappear immediately!
Using baking soda actually helps combat the infection by killing the bacteria, and preventing bacterial growth. Regardless, it should be noted that this remedy is best used for mild pain as a result of infections. If the pain gets excruciating, we recommend you go visit a doctor.
Dried Apricots for Indigestion
This is a staple home remedy for the 21st century. With the abundance of horrible fast food today, it is a surprise that this remedy is still in survival. To use this remedy, exactly 5 apricots are needed, which are consumed every day after dinner. This helps for digestion of food better.
The apricots should be dried, which means that a huge fiber content should be available in the mix. The fiber content should also prevent bloating issues, which contribute to indigestion.
Potatoes for Spider Bites
Spider bites are more common than you think. As a general rule, you’re going to need something that is anti-inflammatory, and specifically with such properties for the skin. Getting a slice of potatoe is perfect for this, were after having a spider bite you, simply wrap the slice on the bitten area, and rub gently for a few minutes.
